Hi everyone,
I've got a new version of my rtf-support code, with a few bug-fixes
and other enhancements, including:
* Corrected placement of brace characters (fixes
interoperability issues).
* Fixed interaction with read-only extents.
* Reduced amount of stylesheet clutter (now only faces that
are actually being used come out in the generated RTF).
* Improved speed of RTF generation.
I'd like to get this released as a package, but I thought I'd send it
to the list first as I know there are a few people out there using
the previous version who'll enjoy testing it whilst I get it into
the right form for inclusion as a package.

`key-binding' misinforms user when used by `describe-key' invoked
inside "text fields" on a key from extent map
(<5a243be96cf489-gin(a)mo.msk.ru>).
In particular, `get_relevant_keymaps' <- `key-binding' does not
traverse extent keymaps when `keys' arg of `key-binding' is a string,
not a vector of events.
`key-binding' `keys' arg is copied from `describe-key' `key' which
should be vector of events, as `interactive' function description
says. And it is when one evaluates
(call-interactively
(lambda (key)
"key arg printer"
(interactive "kEnter key: ")
key))
and presses a key. But `describe-key' receives string as `key' when
user presses key. Does anybody understand why?

Hmmn, its odd that Stephen's sync with the windows branch didn't pick up
this fix. Anyway, if you want to build under cygwin I suggest you use the
windows branch, which is r21-4-6-windows. If you don't have access to cvs,
then hopefully Stephen might roll tarballs again.

Problems running XEmacs 21.4.6

Hello.
I have just compiled XEmacs 21.4.6 on my RedHat Linux 7.2 (with
updates) computer. The Instalation file is attached.
When I try to open a file using the menu (File -> Open), the
open file dialog quickly disapears and the message
Symbol's function definition is void: make-annotation
is left in the message window.
Trying to open a file with the keyboard (C-x C-f) also fails
with the following message
Symbol's value as varixable is void: file-p
in the message window. But after some tries, the command works.
Then it does not work anymore, with the message above.
Any clues?

ispell hangs in LaTeX mode

Dear Bug Team!
I have noticed that in both xemacs-21.5.3 and in xemacs-21.4.6
(freshly compiled with gcc-3 a few minutes ago) ispell hangs
in LaTeX mode with a message:
"Continuing spell-check using default dictionary ..."
I have to exit with C-g.
If I invoke M-x text-mode or M-X lisp-mode, ispell works as
expected and then I revert to LaTeX mode to use the Auctex
package. It is not a critical bug, but still annoying.
Is this a known bug?

this might be a small and simple problem --- but (to be honest) it
took me almost a year to figure it out:
The problem
-----------
If you use uniquify, you can allow it to rename the buffer names after
a buffer has been killed:
(setq uniquify-after-kill-buffer-p t)
For example, if you had the buffers: <foo|bar1> and <foo|bar2>, and
now you killed <foo|bar2>, uniquify will automatically rename
<foo|bar1> to <foo>.
However, if you do this, info will be broken. This is because AFTER A
WHILE the *info* buffer is renamed to the name of the currently
visited info-file. A new call of F1-i then messes up everything, the
history is broken, links are broken, etc.
The problem is that uniquify renames ALL buffers after any buffer has
been killed, including the *info* buffer (it usually renames it to the
name of the info file).
The solution
------------
... is simple. One can exclude the info buffer from being renamed by
setting:
(setq uniquify-ignore-buffers-re "^\\*info\\*$")
I found this problem hard to track because it shows up only after a
while (when I killed some buffer) --- I always suspected my info-dir
settings to be somehow erroneous. Therefore, I would like to suggest
to make this setting the default for uniquify-ignore-buffers-re
(instead of nil):

Dear Bug Team!
The customize buffers seem to have missing buttons. I noticed this
with Gnus's "G c" (customize group): there was no "Done" button to
exit the customize buffer. The same goes, for example, for
M-x customize-variable RET gnus-select-method RET. However, there is
a drop-down element "Reset" (but still no buttons).
