The search form on sourceforge (uses post and is php
powered)
ticlkles an interestingly weird bug in w3 4.0.46 (works fine
with 4.0.44)
--if you do a submit using 4.0.46, you get back an error
page saying
"this url redirected to itself"
--and the url of the returned error page has the parameters
sent as the http post stuck at the end like get parameters.
Does anyone know where this bug crept in from?

I've been getting this on my laptop at work, running Debian GNU/Linux
with an XEmacs fresh from the 21.2 branch of CVS.
Freakily, on my box at home, running pretty much the same software as
far as I can tell (with the same version of efs, anyway), things work
fine.
Oddly, on the box that works, in the *ftp...* buffer I can see the CWD
attempt failing, but then XEmacs seems to continue and use "ls -l" to
look at the file---I seem to remember that's how it's supposed to
work.
So I'm confused, too. What might be causing this problem? Is there
something configurable that might do it? I'm accessing the same ftp
site in both cases---ftp.xemacs.org---so it's not a difference in ftp
site. If XEmacs calls the ftp program, then that's the same version
too, since I'm using unstable Debian on both boxes, and I keep it up
to date pretty consistently.
A search in www.deja.com brings up someone else who seems to have the
same problem: <URL:http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=637844876>.

When I try to use the PUI in the current CVS 21.2, it gives the
following error:

In tracing this, I fould that efs-get-file-entry calls
efs-allow-child-lookup (definition included below) to decide whether
the path it has is a file or a directory. When I looked up
dired-local-variables-file (in dired/dired.el), I found a description
which indicates that efs-allow-child-lookup should not be using it.

printing mule from xemacs

i was asked the question at work today, "can i print a buffer full of
international char sets to a network postscript printer?"
well i didn't have a good answer.
i haven't really kept up with the mule stuff too much.
I sorta remembered from when i asked this question a couple years ago
that is wasn't a very easy thing to do. But, I'm hoping maybe things
are different.
i think this fellow is primarily interesting in oriental scripts. I'd
really like to help him out. He really likes XEmacs but the SA's in
his office keep screwing with the installation and he's determined to
get it working since it's so productive for him (or has been in the
past). I really want to reward that kind of attitude! :-)

sh-script.el from FSF Emacs

The sh-script.el (from the packages) is older than the
one from FSF Emacs. The FSF Emacs sh-script.el has support
for RPM spec files. Can I replace the XEmacs sh-script.el
file with the one from FSF Emacs without problems? Or
is there any incompatibilities?

This patch allows compiling with mingw (-mno-cygwin) again. The
following items are included:
o Installation file is now more accurate for mingw (and cygwin??)
o Can now build without specifying --without-modules (initial module
support??)
o cygwin and mingw builds now include the icons in the .exe file.
o console window has been eliminted for mingw (and cygwin??)
