Key Mapping Warnings with 21.1.12 and RH 7.0 24 years, 1 month

Hi, I recently installed RH 7.0 and XEmacs 21.1.12. I have a Microsoft Natural Keyboard and used xkeycaps and xmodmap to flip Caps-Lock and Ctrl key around. Whenever I start XEmacs, I get the following warnings I used the same .xmodmap file in RH 6.2 but didn't get any warning. Do I need to customise anything (1) (key-mapping/warning) The meanings of the modifier bits Mod1 through Mod5 are determined by the keysyms used to control those bits. Mod1 does NOT always mean Meta, although some non-ICCCM-compliant programs assume that. (2) (key-mapping/warning) Two distinct modifier keys (such as Meta and Hyper) cannot generate the same modifier bit, because Emacs won't be able to tell which modifier was actually held down when some other key is pressed. It won't be able to tell Meta-x and Hyper-x apart, for example. Change one of these keys to use some other modifier bit. If you intend for these keys to have the same behavior, then change them to have the same keysym as well as the same modifier bit. (3) (key-mapping/warning) XEmacs: Meta_R (0x74) generates Mod4, which is generated by Alt. (4) (key-mapping/warning) XEmacs: Meta_L (0x73) generates Mod4, which is generated by Alt. (5) (key-mapping/warning) XEmacs: Alt_L (0x40) generates both Mod1 and Mod4, which is nonsensical. Regards, Yusuf -- Yusuf Goolamabbas yusufg(a)outblaze.com

Ah, Ok. Perhaps that will fix `ssh'. What about XEmacs-21.2-beta, I wonder? What does `ssh' do that keeps it from trying to look up an ipv6 address via DNS? In the meantime, the workaround is to place entries in /etc/hosts for 2002:... ipv6-in-4 addresses for localhost.mydomain.net as well as myhostname.mydomain.net.

In cases where the package author is willing to maintain an XEmacs package, but has his/her own distribution channels, is there a reason we _must_ actively maintain sources in xemacs-packages? Hi, I am using latest XEmacs 21.2 CVS. The function `process-status' does not work if the argument is a string. It should return `nil' when the process does not exist. OK, I believe I have now applied all the patches I intend to apply to 21.1.13. Let me know if there's anything else you really want to get in to this release. I had hoped, in best release engineer fashion, to pull the 21.1.13 release together immediately before my Christmas vacation. (Un)fortunately, I don't have time before I leave Tuesday night. So build XEmacs 21.1 from the CVS sources and if you find any problems, post to the list. I will be away from my email until 12/30, so we can probably expect the 21.1.13 release early in January. - vin
