Terribly sorry. Mea culpa. Etc.
I must admit that I don't know anything about Mule, and that I didn't
even come close to realize that including sysfile.h and lisp.h meant a
fundamental redesign. Sorry again.
A feeble attempt to fix this mess:
I assume that the real problem is the inclusion of sysfile.h, and my
stupid, conflicting naming "sys_realpath" for an internal macro. I
really can't do without lisp.h, however (I need DIRECTORY_SEP, etc.),
so I just pray that's ok...
So, I've restored most of the original includes and the definition of
PATH_MAX, removed the inclusion of sysfile.h, and renamed my macro
sys_readlink to system_readlink.
This works well on native windows and cygwin, but I'm not able to test
under Linux and, therefore, not under Mule.

That's why I mentioned that I was presently using XKBoard, which seems
to be the standard.
It's the default even in 3.3.6 of XFree86.
This in my mind, means that this problem isn't going to go away, and
that there should be a solution for it. Now is as good as any.
The thing that bugs me most about this, is that with the Mandrake RPM
install this is not an issue. With the compile from source it is. What
changed?

X Error: BadWindow

I just found a way to repeat a BadWindow error in xemacs 21.1.
When I played with the beta a few months ago it occasionally showed
the same behaviour, but I could not figure out how to repeat it at
the time.
Procedure:
1. Help-bubbles enabled (those small, yellow boxes).
2. Place the mouse cursor close to the lower edge of a toolbar
button.
3. Wait for the help-bubble to appear, it must overlap with the
frame below.
4. Now move the mouse cursor to the right and into the help-bubble.
You immediately get one X error message on your xterm:
xemacs: X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 40 (X_TranslateCoords)

Putting HTML versions of all XEmacs Manuals on Website?

Hello XEmacs Testers and Maintainers!
The XEmacs website CVS module xemacsweb contains a modified version of
texi2html, which produces almost validation-error-free HTML documents
from XEmacs texi manuals.
The big question is, what we should do with it now.
So far it has been used to generate

http://www.xemacs.org/FAQ/xemacs-faq.texi
Long-term I would like to suggest that we put HTML versions of all
XEmacs texi manuals for the latest stable and development branch
on-line.
The make run via the XEmacs Commit Trigger could be upgraded to handle
this as well.
Commits of texi documents may check out these latest versions on SF
and Tux and re-generate dependant HTML files.
How about this?

No (incidentally, that's the same as DIRECTORY_SEP on windows).
Something like C:/temp is a valid filename even if directory-sep-char
is ?\\. Filenames like c:/temp\foo.txt are also valid, of course.
However, file-truename does obey directory-sep-char, in that it uses
the 'correct' separator in the result.

Variable:
value: ?\\
Directory separator character for built-in functions that return file names.
The value should be either ?/ or ?\ (any other value is treated as ?\).
This variable affects the built-in functions only on Windows,
on other platforms, it is initialized so that Lisp code can find out
what the normal separator is.

Note that they are nicer ways of achieving this. What you could do
is:
(global-set-key 'Cyrillic_shorti 'self-insert-command)
(put 'Cyrillic_shorti 'ascii-character ?й)
...
Then your Russian keys would work with minimal intervention, and with
the regular self-insert code -- no more need to hack overwrite mode
and all that.
Or, if you want to play with a bit more advanced keyboard remapping
hacks, why not take a look at my `latin2.el'? Not Russian, but solves
similar problems.
