No, I don't think there is a good list of developers mapping pieces of code to their respective maintainers. But then again, most of the code is not tied to a particular maintainer anyway. For now, I guess the only way to know these things is to follow xemacs-beta. BTW, Mr. Johnston is not overly active at the moment, but William Perry <wmperry(a)aventail.com> has also worked with the code (in fact, he's the initial author) so he is as likely to help.

I GOT IT! I GOT IT! For my XEmacs 21.2.14 in Linux 2.2/i386, I have to add: --ldflags="-E" for ./configure. Is this necessary flag mentioned anywhere in XEmacs documentation that I missed obviously? comment styles in syntax tables 26 years, 1 month

The Lispref says: Emacs supports two comment styles simultaneously in any one syntax table. This is for the sake of C++. [...] The two comment-start sequences must begin with the same character; only the second character may differ. but this isn't really enforced. A consequence of this is that you can make xemacs hit an abort() in font-lock.c. An example of this occurs in some recent version of a sql mode, which tries to support '/*' and '--' as comment starters (see recipe below for the crash). The abort() is triggered in find_context(). In Fparse_partial_sexp() we are not so aggressive and just parse '/-' and '-*' as comments -- this also happens in FSF emacs, which uses Fparse_partial_sexp in font-lock. Any suggestions?
