XEmacs 21.0-b47/pre4 "Uzbek Black" is released 26 years, 2 months

The next edition of XEmacs 21.0 has been uploaded to the ftp site. ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/beta/xemacs-21.0/ CVS sources are at http://cvs.xemacs.org/ Installable Lisp packages are in: ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/beta/xemacs-21.0/packages/binary-packages/ The CVS tag for this beta is `r21-0b47'. [NOTE: 21.0-b46/pre3 "Toggenburg" was never announced]. Please use the tarballs on the FTP site in preference to the CVS tree if you can. NOTE: The tarballs are named `b47', but this is not a beta. It is a qualified[1] release candidate. Build it as highly optimized as you dare and make it feel pain and see how it goes. Send problems, questions, etc. to xemacs-beta(a)xemacs.org, patches to xemacs-patches(a)xemacs.org. The next release is unscheduled, but will be made once showstopping problems are identified, if any. I think this is stable enough to start thinking about opening up the next cycle's development trees. Details will be posted to xemacs-beta. I am having a bit of a problem. When I use efs to try to ftp anywhere or if I click on a URL to try to connect to netscape I get this error: Opening pty or pipe: No such device or address. The backtrace leads to start-process-internal, but I am having a hard time debugging from there. Ladebug cant read the executable, I suspect that this is because the coff dump is close enough for jazz but not totally correct, and gdb does not seem to set the breakpoint. New bug --- display goobers with variable width fonts 26 years, 2 months

This did not happen before the most recent round of patches. The following was observed in a Gnus article buffer that had been scrolled up then down. The garbage between the second and third characters goes away after a redisplay.
