I see the same backtrace on the second and subsequent times I run ediff-buffers in b36, when I have my focus-follows-mouse fixes (which don't quite work yet) applied. Backing them out avoids the assert fail, but I still get the odd behavior that on the second and subsequent runs of ediff-buffers, a floating minibuffer-only frame is created. [PATCH] `string' and `load-average' 26 years

I've added the `string' function present in FSFmacs 20 (originally called `concat-chars'), because it is both useful and consistent with `list', `vector', etc. In agreement with Stallman, load-average now accepts a USE-FLOATS argument that makes it use floats. P.S. Compare our Fstring with the FSFmacs 20.3 implementation. The difference shows much in the ways of cleanliness and robustness of implementations. [Success] 21.0 "Pygmy-pre1" XEmacs Lucid (beta37) on i386-pc-cyg win32 26 years

With Andy's Cleanup patch. Toolbar icons are back to their regular size, but the file dialog box is still dead ('Window height 1 too small (after splitting)'). I can now exit shell mode without having to destroy XEmacs from the Task Manager. In tty mode, however, I get this: sh-2.01$ exit exit Process shell finished Warning: Select failed; error code 9 after which there's no response from the Cygwin window. 'make install' again works on the second attempt, but for the second build in a row, the first attempt gives me a blue screen crash (yesterday I thought it must be a coincidence). Invoking Info from toolbar, menubar or keyboard now gives me 'Wrong type argument: stringp,nil.' The Info toolbar appears in the frame (a new frame if invoked from the toolbar), but it's empty. My 'dir' file seems to be in the right place. 'Debug On Error' doesn't seem to shed any light. There's still the empty Info window, but no error message. How to build MULE 26 years

I've been trying to build XEmacs (21.0b36) with MULE. Apparently, a lot of MULE support code isn't included in xemacs-21.0-b36.tar.gz. I've looked around all over ftp.xemacs.org, but I can't find anything that looks likely to be the missing code...I did download xemacs-20.4-mule.tar.gz, in the hopes that that would do the trick, but temacs dies with a missing mule-tty-init.el :-( So: 1) Where do I get whatever I need to compile a MULE-enabled xemacs, and 2) Why is it so difficult to find? One more keyword in menus. 26 years, 1 month

I would like a new keyword in menu items. :keys-sequence KEY-SEQUENCE KEY-SEQUENCE is nil or an equivalent keyboard binding for the menu item. I suspect XEmacs has no need for this as it computes the equivalent keyboard bindings fast enough. It would be enough for my purpose if XEmacs accepts the keyword in menus without protesting, it doesn't have to use it. The reason I want this keyword is to simplify things for easymenu.el. The problem is that Emacs takes long time to compute equivalent keyboard bindings. Emacs use a cache to speed things up, so this is a problem only the first time a menu is displayed. E.g. auctex menus take about 4 seconds to display on my machine. To speed things up, the new menu item format in Emacs understands the :key-sequence keyword and use the KEY-SEQUENCE to preload the cache. If this is used, auctex menus display in 0.45 seconds. To use this new menu item format, I suggest including :key-sequence keyword in the easymenu API. Up till now this API has been the XEmacs API, and it is clearly best to keep it that way.
