How about...
- Peter has been working on namazu for quite some time now,
I'm sure he'd hate that to be for nothing.
- Peter has offered to maintain it for us. That's zero burden
for you, Adrian.
i would like to add this as well
xemacs is one of the very few open source programs i have used
constantly since i started using it, and i am not going i will stop.
its the best thing i have found for many uses. it is in my X startup
script so its always open, always used and loved dearly.
i freely admit that im not at all good at c programming and im just
starting to understand lisp so im not going to be able to help fix
internal bugs, so i am offering the skils i have help improve what i
(and all of you to i think) consider to be one of the best open source
programs arround.
as evidenced by my sig there is only a couple of other things i am as
dedicated to those being perl, apache and FreeBSD, those being the
best tools i have found for their respective uses as well.
so yeah i would probably be annoyed if all my efforts have been for naught.
- The SPAM issues that Steve T raised.
this is a concern of mine as well, SPAM is a pet hate of mine
- Updating the normal content of the web sites (and mirrors)
isn't a problem and this wouldn't be any different. Surely
the main site would get indexed and it would automatically
filter down to the other sites. And if it doesn't, I'm sure
that Peter can overcome this.
i will make this work, trust me.
- Why out-source when we have somebody ready willing and
able
to do it in-house.
Adrian, please don't sign us up with Google (at least not yet). Lets
do it the other way around...
Let Peter run with namazu. If it turns out to be more trouble than
it's worth we can re-visit the Google idea then.
and i always keep up an eye out for updates to the software i use so i
will update it when new versions come out
