Hi,
If you start XEmacs, open a new php file (for instace by C-x C-f
"yadayada.php" <enter>) and then write on the first line:
$_COOKIE[
this error message will pop up: (and after that just about anything will
trigger the same error message).
Error caught in `font-lock-pre-idle-hook': (error No match 1 in
highlight (1 font-lock-constant-face nil nil))
The weird thing is that it needs to be exactly 6 chars between the $_
and [ portion (I've tried) but there can be just about any chars (upper,
lower, etc). I've verified this on a Debian unstable system with swedish
locale as well as one with american locale settings.
I've also verified this on a Windows version of XEmacs (debian and
windows using 21.4 patch 13 "Rational FORTRAN win32 sun may 25 2003).
Please let me know if you can reproduce this.
I've also tried this after moving all of my own configuration files away
and the problem still persists, makes PHP editing kind of painful. A
backtrace gave the
information appended below.

I have tried to install xemacs 21.5.9 and 21.4.9, both without success.
After ./configure with no options, make eventually fails after loading
all the elc files, with a segmentation fault.
I am running as root, there is no .xemacs or .emacs file in /root, which
is the director in $HOME at the moment. gcc -v reports gcc version 3.2
20020903 (Red Hat Linux 8.0 3.2-7)
uname -a returns:

Does the keymap code backtrack on prefixes?

What I mean is, suppose you have a major mode (for the sake of
concreteness, UGHTeX) which binds C-c C-f C-e, and a minor mode
(fungi-menu), which binds C-c C-f R.
Does C-c C-f C-e invoke UGHTeX's command? Or does the prefix defined
by fungi-menu shadow the prefix defined by UGHTeX? Anybody know offhand?
If XEmacs doesn't invoke UGHTeX's command in this situation, shouldn't it?

Hello out there,
I have some problems with the func-mode together with
AUCTeX.
When I put:
(add-hook 'find-file-hooks 'fume-setup-buffer)
in my init.el, the key bindings of AUCTeX for
LaTeX mode don't work.
(I use the current stabil xemacs for win32)
Do you have an idea?

Dear Bug Team!
I am writing once again to report this bug. This time I have
installed the actual version of XEmacs, but the bug persists.
XEmacs crashes consistently when I do the following sequence of
actions:
I have 2 windows opened and several buffers. Now I want to
execute a shell command by M-!.
I start typing a command into the minibuffer and then decide to
switch to the other XEmacs window to yank a word from it.
The crash happens the moment I want to return to the
minibuffer. XEmacs attempts an illegal memory access.
I am using the mouse pointer both times to switch buffers.
Attached is also the Lisp stack trace which I get immediately
thereafter.

[Bug: 21.4.12] mail-extr uses defconst

Dear Bug Team!
The package mail-extr with its major function mail-extract-address-components,
is extremely useful for parsing mail addresses.
However, it has a major shortcoming: it doesn't parse addresses with
full-names starting (or ending) with non-ascii characters correctly,
such as
(mail-extract-address-components "Olov Ågren <foo(a)bar.se>")
=> ("Olov" "foo(a)bar.se")
In principle it is easy to fix, by setting mail-extr-first-letters and
mail-extr-last-letters to include these funny non-ascii letters, but
the patch is inconvenient because of the use of defconst in mail-extr.el.
In order to change the parsing, I not only need to set the constants
*after* loading the package, but I also need to set all constants
which depend on them - which are also defconst's. (These are
mail-extr-bad-dot-pattern, mail-extr-name-pattern,
mail-extr-initial-pattern, and mail-extr-normal-name-pattern).
Please consider changing mail-extr.el to use defvar instead of
defconst. This would make life easier for non-Americans.
