NB: I had both sounds-wav and sounds-au installed in <package-dir>/etc from older experiments. ------- GENERAL ------- After installing auctex 1.12 it still shows up as 1.9 in *Packages*. sounds-au does not show to be installed, even though it is. Can you please point my to that patch in the mailing list archive or re-send it? I am willing to look into a patch fixing "standard" directories. I just added LDAP in the form of umich-ldap to my system, not because I needed it for anything but because it was there. I had to do some hacking on configure to get it to run. Debian installs the libraries as libumich_ldap, etc., and the includes in /usr/include/umich-ldap. I don't know enough about configure to add the necessary tests; perhaps someone else will take up the challenge. Once I had persuaded configure to recognize and prepend those files, everything proceeded swimmingly. -- Michael D. In addition to the problems discussed before on xemacs-beta this also fixes the problem that if you C-x o out of a set-variable prompt all the help is screwed.
