here is 100% to make the tab dissapear:
start xemacs,C-x f, C-x o to come back to scratch.
tab dissapeared and will reapear if C-l is pressed.
works everytime.
if you don't have this behaviour on NT, can somebody confirm having it
as well on linux? it might be the easiest one.
I see this on linux. Whoops, following up to this mail has made the
gutter become invisible (grey on grey).
