Hello, Christian -
I don't have any thoughts at this time, but perhaps someone on the
xemacs-beta list does.
By the way, how does XEmacs 21.4.20 not work well on Vista for you?
Regards,
Vin

Invoking A Compare Between Directories in XEmacs 21.4.20
17 years, 3 months
WESTWOOD, Kevin J
Please describe as succinctly as possible:
- What happened.
- What you thought should have happened.
- Precisely what you were doing at the time.
On Unix, when comparing Directories via the menu sequence
Tools-Compare-Two Directories, for directory A, you get
a Dialog Box titles "Directory A To Compare:". You can select the first
directory and then have to press return to dismiss the dialog box (not
intuitive). The set up in version 20.4 was better where you get the file
dialog box
with it's OK cancel button.
When you dismiss the "Directory A To Compare:" dialog box, having made
your selection, the second directory has to
be entered in the mini buffer at the bottom of the screen, rather than
showing the previous dialog box. Overall, the
sequence in version 20.4 is better since you get the file dialog box for
directory B as well, as you would expect.
On Windows, when you repeat the abhove menu sequence, you get the
standard windows file selection dialog which simply
won't accept a directory as the final selection before dismissing the
dialog box. I have to invoke compare directories
from the mini buffer to get directory comparison to work.
Regards,
Kevin

after-save-hook set to diary-redraw-calendar when calendar buffer was previously marked
17 years, 3 months
Dr. Volker Zell
Hi
I recently upgraded the calendar package from 1.23 to 1.32 (xemacs versions) which seems
to be more or less in sync with the latest package from emacs-22.1. There is a new
function 'diary-redraw-calendar'.
Whenever I save a file the previously marked calendar buffer will be remarked,
which on my machine takes about 2 annoying seconds. Checking the after-save-hook variable,
shows that diary-redraw-calendar is set unconditionally after first marking diary entries.
Latest emacs doesn't show this behaviour. Steps to reproduce:
Start with xemacs -q (21.4.20)
M-x calendar
M-x mark-diary-entries
M-x describe-variable
->after-save-hook => (diary-redraw-calendar)
Start with emacs -q (Latest 22.1)
M-x calendar
M-x mark-diary-entries
M-x describe-variable
->after-save hook => nil
Ciao
Volker

Hi
When in calender mode:
g b
Symbol's function definition is void: calendar-goto-bahai-date
g k
-> answer questions, and then you end up with
Symbol's function definition is void: cal-assoc-ignore
Ciao

I just updated with yum and got updates to metacity, xemacs-common, and
xemacs-packages and the dialog behavior problem is still there.

I know pcl-cvs is basically orphaned, but does anyone care about patches
for it? I have a couple of quick fixes to make it work better with more
recent versions of cvs.

Standard input is not a tty
17 years, 3 months
Didier Verna
Hi !
I use XEmacs 21.4 on Mac OSX with XDarwin. There's no problem when I
start it on the command line in Terminal. However, when I try to launch
it via a graphical application launcher like Quicksilver, it says
"standard input is not a tty" and doesn't start.
Is there a way around this ?
Thanks.
