Hi folks,
This fixes some 64bit problems in Xt calls with va_lists.
XtVaSetValues is a list terminated with a true NULL pointer.
0 is not sufficient, because it is just 32bit wide on 64bit systems.
XtVaSetValues needs to be terminated with a true NULL pointer too,
while XtArgVal is asserted to be long enough, a (char*)NULL is better
there.

Dear Bug Team!
i experience recurrent freezes, mostly while using VM and gnus, but
it's happened now too (while i was typing "gnus"? yes...)
it's not anything serious, because XEmacs responds to C-g, and what
i've typed between the freeze and the control G is executed after the
C-g
i tried setting debug-on-signal to t, but i could not get a lisp
backtrace --- what should i do to get some info regarding what's
happening?
i have a feeling that timers are involved

When I run it under 21.4 (with your patch applied), I get this
assertion failure:
FAIL: Assertion failed: (null (zmacs-region-buffer))
I get that for both the compiled and non-compiled lisp.
Do you know why the behavior would differ between 21.4 and 21.5?

Broken MIME character set handling by MHonArc

It seems that more recent versions of MHonArc than are on the xemacs.org
server have MIME character set handling that’s worth the name. I have 2.6.10
locally, for example, and this is the list of non-ASCII encodings it can
handle;

The server’s version is 2.4.7, which supports only Latin 1 and ISO 2022-JP
(if you specify explicitly that a mailing list will use ISO 2022) out of the
box. As such, an upgrade would mean that the Russian and Japanese-language
archives would work without further configuration. (Admittedly, these last
two are mostly spam, and I’m mostly annoyed that I can’t point someone
towards one of my mails on the web and have that mail appear readable. But I
think it’s a reasonable desire, all the same.)
Could you pass on a request for an upgrade to the tux.org people, or give me
details of someone I should contact to request it?

Yeech. This is just the "can't find any fonts" assert in disguise, I
have to think. The problem is that fontconfig never admits defeat,
but if all it has to go on is size and name, well fontconfig will
happily return "Zapf Dingbats-12". (This isn't an excuse for the
crash, need to prevent that and issue a diagnostic; I'm just
describing what I think is the path to the crash.)
Do you have any suggestion for a reliably available default font?
Looking at the platforms I have available I have to conclude it's
going to be platform-specific. :-(
You can test the hypothesis that fontconfig returned a bogus font with
./xemacs -xrm 'XEmacs.defaults.attributeFont: Bitstream Vera Mono-12:dpi=100'
Substitute an available family and a correct dpi, or you can omit
dpi if your X server is configured to tell the truth (neither Xfree86
nor X.org does in my experience).

Elisp manual vía C-h I (where is it?)

I am not too proud of this question:
where is the Elisp manual. I was pointed out that
C-h i Elisp would point to the elisp manual.
The point is this does not work for me (21.4.16 debian unstable)
I do remember that I read in xemacs a sort of lisp manual, but I don't
remember whether this was a no debian version (in which case I would
file a bug report) or it was under another name.

Contents of one of my workspaces

I went through just now and looked through the diff of "fixup", one of my
workspaces and perhaps the largest.
Following is an approximate list of the contents:
1. Cleanup configure, redo configure and various other code so that GTK and
X support are independent and both possible at once
2. HAVE_SHLIB -> HAVE_MODULES
3. has-modeline-p -> modeline-visible-p
4. Move set-extent-* accessors to Lisp
5. Sync font-lock with FSF 21.2
6. Create a "splash frame" that pops up early, before XEmacs loads the init
file, similar to the way many modern apps work; add hackery to support this
(e.g. "no-title-bar" frame property)
7. Add code to optionally install hyper-apropos as the standard help system
8. Add define-minor-mode and other constructs to
lisp-function-and-type-regexp
9. Load custom file before init file
10. define string-to-syntax as alias for syntax-string-to-code
11. Rewrite the text property implementation for speed (possibly not
finished); also implement FSF-compatible front-sticky, rear-nonsticky, etc.

20. implement insert-(before-markers-)and-inherit separate from insert
21. Factor out duplicated X/MSW/GTK XBM and XFACE code
22. Add function write_string_to_lstream (used where?)
23. Type-correct rewriting in various places (int->Bytecount, char->Ascbyte,
etc.)
