Howdy all.
I've periodically seen problems in the past with ClearCase mode being messed
up to the point of it essentially locking up waiting for the underlying
cleartool command to start, and after upgrading to the latest officially
released cleartool.el today I'm now hitting it pretty much universally in my
setup (including w/ -vanilla, eliminating my setup).
Basically, I think there is a race condition going on where cleartool is
starting (I can see the process running), but not seeing the command that the
mode is passing to it, so it doesn't give the expected response, so XEmacs
just sits there saying "waiting for cleartool to start".
Even reverting to the previous version of clearcase.el I have (and removing
the .elc of course) still exhibits the problem, so I'm thinking that one of
the other updated packages it requires is triggering this...and in fact it
appears to be tq.el because if I load the older version I had before loading
clearcase.el, everything is fine.
The delta between the previous tq.el and the current is pretty small:

I'm suspecting that last delta, but haven't been able to figure out enough
running under edebug yet to figure out exactly why. Figured I'd see if anyone
on the list would know just by visual inspection before I dove too much deeper
in...or if anyone had any advice on how to make debugging this easier?

Using the latest CVS, this doesn't work as expected by default:

You need to:

For those who don't follow -patches closely, Stephen has asked me to hold off
merging autoconf 2.5 support onto the mainline until he's produced a
corresponding patch to internals.texi.
Consequently, if you have a patch that involves changes to the configuration
scripts, feel free to make the change to configure.in. I'll make the
corresponding changes to configure.ac until the move is made.
Hopefully this situation won't last long.

a patch the xemacs.mak reflecting the removal of the BUGS file
(resulting in failure of nmake /f xemacs.mak install).

Hi,
Trying to get all versions of XEmacs in the package smoketest to build
properly. Now the time has come to analyze 21.1 (mule and
no-mule).
Both fail in the same way se:

When I run 21.1 on another machine I get this error:

I think that the smoketest build gets the same error but fails to
report it in clear text due to that it hangs for some reason. (I have
a script that periodically checks for hanging xemacs processes and
kills them to avoid the whole smoketest to stop.) (Could the ^G, bell,
cause some problem when the process is run by cron!?)
Anyway the main issue here is that xemacs 21.1 gets a problem with the
missing font-lock-constant-face when compiling ocaml.

mouse support in terminal?

Gnu Emacs has xt-mouse.el to support using the mouse when Emacs
is running in a terminal (emacs -nw).
Does XEmacs have such a feature?
Apparently Bill Perry tried to hack xt-mouse.el to make it work in
XEmacs a long time ago:

I just tried the xt-mouse.el from Bill Perry's mail
but it didn't work for me.
What is the right approach to make this work with XEmacs?
Hack the current Gnu Emacs version of xt-mouse.el again to adapt it to
