"Search" dialog bug on linux 23 years, 1 month

Pop up search dialog and enlarge it (yes, it is resizable!). The xemacs core is downloading nicely to my cvs tree. The packages are not. Am I doing something incorrectly? Greetings, Some time ago I decided that I hate typing over a modem. As a result I wrote a cheesy perl script to send my editing requests back to my local machine's xemacs session. I then discovered that sometimes gnuclient fails because my modem sucks and my request gets lost in the ether. So, I changed it to add a few alternatives. In any event, I thought folks here might find it useful. I use it as my $EDITOR variable, which makes cron over a modem much less infuriating as well as mutt. This might be an issue of design so it might not be my place to say, but I would suggest the feature should not set the variable at all. The "File->Open..." dialog does not, nor does "Motion->Goto Line..." The only problem is, I cannot seem to fix it :-( Making the variable buffer local doesn't work. Changing it into a specifier should work, but I cannot get it to behave like it should... Jan

I just created my first CVS repository locally for XEmacs. I got both the core and the packages. I just have one question: How the )&*(%^&$^&*%^&*$^&*%$%!＠^&*%＠#$＠#! do you people ever get anything done over a 56k modem? I've got DSL and I gave up and went to bed and let it run overnight! New CVS version on cvs.xemacs.org 23 years, 1 month

Let all rejoice! I have traced the failures in CVS on BSDi down to (are you ready for this?) a y2k bug. *snicker* Now CVS passes all tests, plus a few more I thought of to check y2k boundary problems. So... after consultaion with SteveT our illustrious release manager, I have decided to update and hope that this fixes all of the complaints recently. This will happen at 4pm JST (approximately 45 minutes from now), and I'll stop the pserve process, lock the tree, and update. Please, let me know if there are any new problems, although I really don't expect any.
