No. But AucTeX has its own lisp searching mechanism that looks in (concat TeX-lisp-directory "/style") etc. Yes, that means there are .el files in etc. Hé, this is Lisp, so data looks like code. looking at customize screws up C indenting 23 years

Opening the "C" group: customize->emacs->programming->languages->c->c... will screw up indenting for previously opened buffers. Solid cursor on exit 23 years

When I exit from XEmacs 21.1.14 in character terminal mode (I use bash under Linux), I still continue to have the solid cursor used in XEmacs, and I always have to do a "reset" of the terminal to go back to the normal underscore cursor. I don't know if it' really a bug or an option, but I've tried to find an answer on comp.emacs.xemacs and I couldn't get any. Thank you Enrico

Call for a volunteer to sync compile.el 23 years

Hi Folks! It would seem that our copy of compile.el is quite a bit out of date and lagging behind the FSF version. I have a copy of the FSF compile.el, but unfortunately I don't have the time to sync it to our version properly. So I'd like to ask if somebody would be able to do this for us. If you can help, email me and I'll send you the file. Also, in the near future I'll be asking for help in syncing the rest of xemacs-base -devel etc. That probably won't be until after the next SUMO. PGP verification of package-index files 23 years

Hi Folks! I've just committed a patch to XEmacs 21.5 that fixes the PGP code in the package tools. Could I please ask those of you who have PGP to test this for me. I want to hear of successes _and_ failures. Test it by: - grab the latest CVS sources and build a new XEmacs - (setq package-get-require-signed-base-updates t) - You'll need MailCrypt installed. Which should snarf my key the first time you get the signed index file. [1] - Tools -> Packages -> Add Download Site -> [2] - Tools -> Packages -> Update Package Index or List & Install Once that completes just do 'C-h l' and look at the recent messages for something similar to: gpg: Good signature from "Steve Youngs <youngs(a)xemacs.org>" When you send me your success/failure report, please also tell me which version of PGP you are using. Thanks very much for your help. Footnotes: [1] If it doesn't, you should be able to find my key on most key servers (the keyid is in my sig). Hi Jan, Your patch (pasted below) sends XEmacs/cygwin into an infinite loop when I do M-x customize-variable. This seems worse than it was before :) Let me know if you can fix it or I will have to back it out of the windows branch. Hi, [ Sorry posting from the HTTP archive browser, so no In-Reply-To: <9614-Mon08Oct2001205158+0100-starksb(a)ebi.ac.uk> I don't read the list, so please reply if you need more information ] I found two more problems compiling 21.4.5 (Windows) on cygwin (1.3.x): - For a one-source-multiple-platform-build setup the line configure:7039: install_pp="$blddir/lib-src/installexe.sh" is wrong. The problem is that installexe.sh is NOT copied to $blddir/lib-src, so the line should read: install_pp="$srcdir/lib-src/installexe.sh" - There seems also to be a problem with the detection of xpm-nox (Latest cygwin only???). The configure correctly generates -I/usr/include/noX, but doesn't add -L/lib/noX (this is where xpn-nox libraries are stored). Using configure .... --ldflags=-L/lib/noX didn't help, because LDFLAGS are set to '' in the main makefile and thus the correctly generated settings in the subdirectories makefile are overwritten during the build. Still looking for a reason everyone else can build xemacs-21.5.3/i686-pc-cygwin but I cannot. Does the "temacs" run load the local site-lisp files or the user's init file(s)? -- David A.
