Yes it is, but the circular dependencies shouldn't really exist (but
do). For example, gnus ought to be able to build without tm, w3, or
rmail, and w3 should certainly not be dependent on gnus.

If you are using the latest VM, you will not need anything else for
MIME. You will need w3 if you want to read html messages inline, but
not if you don't. tm is pretty much obsolete, since the current VM
and beta Gnus do MIME themselves.

There is no such thing, really. Mule is an encoding system for
XEmacs. It doesn't have anything to do with mail.

Emacs/W3 is the canonical source for font.el, at least until we do the new
font model in C and make it consistent across emacsen.

while I deal with moving to Japan.
I've squashed lots of the bugs I introduced recently into 21.2 (and
some I didn't), and XEmacs should be getting pretty stable. My own
XEmacs is rock-solid ... for the sorts of things I do.
There are still some platform-specific crashes. I hope that people
try to find the bugs on their own platform.
I'd like to put out a 21.2.9, but that may have to wait until after
I'm in Japan.

If those programs are the same as in the GNU Emacs distribution, they

This is my first beta release. Have mercy. Have fun finding all the
different ways I've messed up.
XEmacs 21.2.6 was a CVS-only release. No one ever got around to
making tarballs. It doesn't seem worth making tarballs now. Diffs
are, however, available to allow folks to patch up.
All of my own patches are finally released. XEmacs should be fairly
stable on Unix, if not yet on Windows.
Andy's subwindow support is in. So all the large patches have been
applied, and XEmacs is still alive.
There certainly are some patches that have not yet been applied, but
should be. Several regular XEmacs contributors, such as myself, have
recently converted to doing direct CVS commits. I encourage others,
Hrvoje in particular, to do the same.
As a complete coincidence, the Latin name for Ares is Mars, so this is
not just a Martin release, but also a Martian one.

This is another experimental beta release, mostly spent fighting with
CVS problems.
I have only applied my own patches to this beta, and am still hoping
that someone else, perhaps Andy, will deal with the problem of
managing everyone else's patches. In particular, Andy, please apply
all the Windows-relevant patches.
Having already invested some effort in script writing to put out two
betas, I will probably volunteer to keep maintaining my personal
scripts that actually put out releases.
To the Mule folks (and that includes everyone who uses the Mule
version, not just the ones with large character sets), there are some
important bug fixes in this release. Some Mule bugs were introduced
during the great Windows hacking frenzy.

Reminds me of West Lafayette, IN (Purdue) or, to a lesser extent,
Peoria, IL (Bradley Univ).
You just haven't lived until you've seen ads for seeds, fertilizer,
pesticides, or all of the above during prime-time network television.
That and network TV stations that actually turn off at night. I fear,
however, that I may have just dated myself. =)
