the evil iso-accents-mode: babel does not work
15 years, 11 months
Uwe Brauer
Hello
Some days ago I described the problems I encounter with babel in Xemacs
21.4. Mule and how to solve them, at least this is what I thought.
Here is the minimal example
--8<------------------------schnipp------------------------->8---
# -*-coding: iso-8859-1;-*-
Küste
--8<------------------------schnapp------------------------->8---
if this buffer is in fundamental mode. Babel region
German --> French gives:
Küste --> côte.
However when turning on iso-accents-mode and repeating the babel command
I obtain
Küste --> KÃ ¼ ste
Which looks like the original german word in UTF-8!
Even after turning iso-accents-mode off the situation did not change and
it looks as if Xemacs is "corrupted". I am puzzled since I thought there
is now difference between iso-accents-mode and quail at the level of the
input.
This is not an important problem but if somebody can enlighten me I
would be grateful.
Uwe Brauer

Thanks. The advice helps here, but I seem to recall getting two emails
on other lists from people who do that.

Patch not committed

Vladimir G. Ivanovic
On 19 Sep 08 I submitted a patch to xemacs-patches for configure and
configure.ac that has yet to be committed.
When will it be committed? Is there something I need to do?
Thanks.

How to costumize line spacing in Xemacs?

How to costumize line spacing in Xemacs?
I am using Xemacs and prefer to enlarge the default line spacing in Xemacs. I can realize it in GNU emacs through adding "(set-default line-spacing argumnet)" to the .emacs file. But that does _NOT_ take effect in Xemacs! I wanna know how to costumize line spacing in Xemacs.
I don't know where to ask this kind of questions. I would appreciate reply tremendously.
sincerely
a beginner of Xemacs

You saved it correctly. Probably opening again chose iso-8859-1
instead of iso-8859-15. If you read "Noconv" in your modeline,
that's the case. If there is "MIME/Ltn-9", then you have a real
problem.
You might want to add
% Local Variables:
% buffer-file-coding-system: iso-8859-15
% End:
to the end of your file.
HTH,
Joachim

I need to setup my gnus again and allow it to play it like that

Hey! I just discovered interesting opportunity in (S)XEmacs. That is
video glyphs, i.e. glyphs running video inside. Just try out this
code:
(defun lg-video-glyph (file &optional w h)
"Create video glyph to play FILE.
Optionally you can specify width and height by passing W and H args."
(let* ((gg (make-glyph [subwindow]))
(prc (start-process "mplayer" nil "mplayer"
"-wid" (int-to-string
(subwindow-xid
(glyph-image-instance gg)))
(expand-file-name file))))
(resize-subwindow
(glyph-image-instance gg) (or w 200) (or h 140))
(put gg 'mplayer-proc prc)
gg))
(setq gg (lg-video-glyph "~/crypt/video/kunfu-panda.mp4"))
(set-extent-end-glyph
(make-extent (point) (point))
gg)
than you are able to resize video glyph with sexp like this:
(resize-subwindow (glyph-image-instance gg) WIDTH HEIGHT)
Most interesting is that if you point the cursor inside that glyph you
can control mplayer as normal, i mean you can rewind, pause, change
volume, etc, and OSD works as well
thanks
