I've just found Emacs-chess, it seems to be a very cool elisp gem (I
particularly like the puzzle feature), it doesn't work with XEmacs out
of the box. Is someone thinking about working on it, besides me? ;-)

Dear Bug Team!
I had two Xemacs' running, and in the foreground window I did a search
with Edit, Find. First found some text OK, then clicked cancel.
After this it opened a console window and kept switching
between the find dialog and the console window. When i closed the
console window from the taskbar, it closed the foreground Xemacs.
So yeh, to get the bug to fire, just do 'edit' and then 'find' then 'cancel'
and it'll just keep switching till eventually there is a null-pointer error.
It works OK if you click the 'X' instead of cancel, and seems to work fine
after the first time it quits using the X, using either cancel or X.
I've attached a RARd Dr Watson log file that might be of some use with a
snapshot of the system as Xemacs died.

Use of REQUIRED in Package Creation

Under what circumstances must REQUIRED be used? I have a package that
requires another package to be installed in order for it execute. I can
build the package, however, without specifying that package in REQUIRED and
if I do specify it the build fails. The build works because my PRELOAD looks
for the other package in the load-path and sets things up accordingly.
As long as the other package has been installed, I am ok.
So, do I have to bite the bullet and figure out why my build fails or can I
leave it out of REQUIRED? If REQUIRE is only for build-time issues than I am
OK. If REQUIRE is used so that the package management facility knows each
package's runtime prerequisites than I am stuck.

I am trying to build packages from source. I did a 'make install' on
hyperbole (although the problem would be anywhere) and I get the error
cp: illegal option -- a
Usage: cp [-f] [-i] [-p] f1 f2
cp [-f] [-i] [-p] f1 ... fn d1
cp -r|R [-f] [-i] [-p] d1 ... dn-1 dn
The make script does a 'cp -af' and, at least on Solaris 7, this is not a
valid option. Am I only the one who has tried doing this on Solaris 7? What
does the 'a' option do on other systems? How can I workaround this?

xemacs-21.5.14 unexec() failure

I configured and built xemacs-21.5.14, and it seemed to go okay until:
Dumping under the name xemacs
unexec(): dldump(/u/avised/inst/xemacs-21.5.14/src/xemacs): ld.so.1:
./temacs: fatal: /u/avised/inst/xemacs-21.5.14/src/xemacs: unknown
dynamic entry: 1879048176
make[1]: *** [xemacs] Error 1
The config.log and a transcript of the build are attached. But how
can I decipher the number 1879048176?

Perhaps; but the job of configure is very largely to work around
broken systems.

Perhaps there is some general way to do it for all libraries that are
used? I dunno, somehow associate each header file name with its

small program linked with -lfoo?
