got your new build package installed
i like the new interface, very spiffy
the only thing that didnt work "out of the box" with my old config
file was the new build-cvs-working-dir-naming variable
(i had to add this to my config options file)
also if i start build without having any options set it spits out this error
Symbol's value as variable is void: build-cvs-xemacs-release
that could be bad if someone has never use build before
but on the whole looks good
if you want me to test it some more let me know
i will let you know if i have any problems

i'll be on a flight in 12 hours, i need to sleep now, and after that i probably
won't be able to access mail at ben(a)666.com for 7 weeks. the address that this
mail should be coming from -- ben_wing(a)hotmail.com -- will still work, and i'll
be checking mail fairly often in italy. however, i won't be able to do any
coding. best bet if something is wrong is describe what's wrong, try to do a
bit of investigative work to at least somewhat narrow down what the problem is
[e.g. stack traces for crashes/assert failures, etc.] and i'll try to diagnose
from afar ...
i am also unsubscribed for the time being to all xemacs lists.

Hi,
I have a SuSE 8 -linux installed on my PC.
Few minutes ago I checked out the cvs-xemacs.
Made a ./configure --pdump
Then make.
I get this message:

Dear Bug Team!
I have often had problems where my XEmacs would not finish updating a window,
loading a file, or font-locking a buffer, until I clicked the mouse outside the
window. Today, I updated my Cygwin and Cygwin-XEmacs and the problem is about
as bad as it has ever been.
I'm just trying to load certain small text files (20-50 lines), and I'm finding
that font-locking is not completing unless I click several times back and forth
outside the window and back in the window. Even with that, it's taking 10-20
seconds to load and view these files. Normally, on my 1ghz Athlon, this goes
much faster.
Note that I'm using the "sdesk" virtual window manager on Win2k.

problem building build package from cvs

hi adrian and everyone else
i have been trying to compile adrians latest build package from cvs
this is the first time i have compiled packages from cvs so i could be
doing something wrong
i followed the instructions in the INSTALL file
then i did gmake autoloads in packzges/xemacs-packages
i then tried gmake bindist in packzges/xemacs-packages/build
it seemed to be going fine then i got an error
this seems to be the command it fell over on

i am running XEmacs 21.4.9RC1 on FreeBSD 4.6
i assume there is some weird difference between the linux and FreeBSD cp command's
note i had to use gmake to even get this far the std FreeBSD make
didnt work at all

As described in the attached messages, Francesco has improved etags.
Ben Wing has been doing a fair amount of work on etags, but he's gone
on vacation so it's unlikely he'll be able to do anything until
mid-August.
We would be very happy to have tester reports. Send reports on etags
itself directly to Francesco. Our etags.el differs quite a bit from
GNU Emacs's; please send reports on use of Francesco's etags.el patch
to xemacs-beta as well as to Francesco, so that we'll know if it works
or not. Somebody in the core _should_ try it, but you know how rare
those round tuits are....
There has been some discussion of replacing our etags.el with that of
GNU Emacs. I don't know the current state of that idea, but anybody
who is willing to experiment with it gets double gold stars for
reporting. (Just trying doesn't count ;^)
