Hi Steve!
When cvs up'ing the xemacs package tree, I see a lot of
? ...
lines at the beginning.
Most of those can be eliminated by adding
pdepends.mk
auto-autoloads.el
custom-load.el
_pkg.el
to cvsignore. Currently, they are part of my own file, but I think
they would be better placed in the repository's file.
What do you think?
After adding these lines, cvs barfs on the following contents

Bug related to `start-process' and `process-connection-type'

This bug is found in both Emacsen, hence the same bug report is sent
to both teams.
There is a bug related to `start-process' when
`process-connection-type' is set to nil (using pipe).
The bug was initially discussed on XEmacs mailing list, see the

It has been tracked down to the above mentioned function/variable. It
is seen on all compilable XEmacs version from 21.1.6 and up and also
GNU Emacs 20.7.1. Due to some discussion on XEmacs mailing list I
believe that it is only related to (some) Unix versions of (X)Emacs,
i.e. *not* windows versions.
I believe it is related to some IPC stuff and is therefore not
deterministically reproducable, I have generated a skeleton elisp file
that provokes the bug, cvs is used as the process to be invoked, but
any other app may do as well.
The bug has been confirmed to exist by

XEmacs 21.4.6 crash on FreeBSD 4.2

I compiled and installed XEmacs 21.4.6 on a fairly plain FreeBSD 4.2
machine and it crashes on launch on my NCD 88k X terminal (M-x
describe-installation output attached). It displays OK on my Solaris 2.8
machine and in the terminal (xemacs -nw), but when I launch it from the
NCD the window comes up, a few things appear in the modeline and menu bar,
and then it crashes with this lisp backtrace:

c-fill-paragraph (bound to M-q in JDE mode) sometimes (i.e. for the
class below) fails to reformat a comment, complaining that "Args out
of range". IMHO the example is quite simple and JDE should handle it
gracefully.

Crashes while running VM

xemacs (21.4.5) seems to reliably crash when reading vm mail
with too-long a recipient list. This is on a Mac G4 running
OS 10.1.2.

Fatal error (11).
Unfortunately the crash produces a segmentation fault but no CORE
file, so I cannot provide a backtrace. It doesn't seem to matter
whether the characters are in the "To" field or the "CC" field.
The incoming mail file that produces a crash has something like
4175 characters in the To: field. Cutting that number down to
4172 results in no crash. Replacing the three deleted characters
with anything else on the keyboard restores the crash.
