[BUG] yank-pop is broken in 21.4 24 years

Tested with 21.4.3 and 21.1.14 In 21.4.3 it is required to press M-y (yank-pop) twice to get same effect as in 21.1.14 with just pressing M-y once. Hello All, http://www.dk.xemacs.org is a new, additional XEmacs master website (automatically updating from CVS commits). I personally get much better data transfer rates out of it than from http://www.xemacs.org or even http://www.us.xemacs.org being connected via DSL from Munich/Germany using T-Online as a provider. What I would like to hear from you is how well this new site serves users outside (but also inside) Europe. You may test this by downloading FAQ/xemacs-faq.html from the three sites. can't build xemacs.info with xemacs 24 years

I can no longer build xemacs.info with xemacs. I'm not sure when this started, but I want to say it was shortly before 21.4. Here's an excerpt: Formatting: Completion for Lisp Symbols ... Currently, I copy the files over to a linux box, use makeinfo there, and copy them back. This is doable but a pain. Is xemacs' etags.el really "better and faster"? 24 years

... as the comments at the top claim? I spent a bit of time trying to use it, and concluded that it's dysfunctional. The "exuberant ctags" FAQ claims the following... %% 5. Why doesn't Xemacs correctly locate the tag in the source file? %% %% This has been observed with version 20.3. It seems that when Xemacs %% searches for a %%tag, it searches using the tag name instead of the %% search string located in the TAGS file. This is a bug in Xemacs and %% does not occur in the GNU version of Emacs. I'm not quite sure yet whether that diagnosis is right, or whether it's doing something else, but it doesn't behave "sensibly" for me. Looking up say a tag "Float" appears to find something like "BoxedFloat::serialize", which seems consistent with one reading of the documentation, but if I read it that way it's a pretty bizarre intentional behaviour. cc-mode packaging problem? 24 years

I am forwarding an email I received from bug-cc-mode. It would seem, according to him, that something broke with respect to cc-mode packaging with the release of 21.4.3. >From my perspective, all I did was an XEmacs upgrade. After that, a previously working cc-mode environment stopped working. I'd be happy to help do something to track this down but what? How does one force a recompile of an installed package? Etags and included files 24 years

Hi, I've been unable to find any reference to the problem I'm having with etags and included files, so I'm forced to assume, strange as it might seem, that I am actually the first one to report this problem. To summarize: Attempting to use 'find-tag' fails with the error message "Bad TAGS file" if the TAGS file being read includes other TAGS files (by using etags -i). A TAGS file created with the etags -i option may look like this: ^L config.h,418 #define TIME_WITH_SYS_TIME 14,445 #define PACKAGE 56,1501 #define VERSION 59,1556 ^L src/TAGS,include ^L tests/TAGS,include As soon as the 2nd ^L is processed, the error will occur. The reason is that the regexp being used to match a valid file specification after the ^L expects a number after the comma, and does not accept the 'include'. The regexp is defined in /usr/lib/xemacs-21.4.1/lisp/etags.el.gz, line 478, as: (defconst tags-file-pattern "^\f\n\$.+\$,[0-9]+\n") defining it instead as: (defconst tags-file-pattern "^\f\n\$.+\$,\$\\([0-9]+\$\\|include\\)\n") would handle the include pattern as well. At least, that works for me. Funny, the line right after this says: ;; #### Should make it work with the `include' directive! (defun add-to-tag-completion-table () So apparently it was known as a problem to the author of that line, but he or she didn't want to fix it by changing 'tags-file-pattern', so perhaps there's some underlying issue I'm not aware of. I'm not an ELisp hacker, I just traced it in the debugger and saw that it was crapping out apparently only because the input wasn't matching this regexp, but what do I know. The TAGS file that caused the problem was originally created as a result of running 'make tags' on a Makefile built from automake/autoconf, so I would think this would be a common problem.
