I am trying to checkout xemacs-packages tree on a new Solaris machine (xemacs-21.2 checked out fine) and am getting the following error: I am using cvs-1.10. Any idea what am I doing wrong? Could we please turn off the top-line clipping? 25 years, 2 months

I think the top-line clipping experiment should be pushed forward, or terminated. For some time now, Gnus line-by-line scrolling has been broken, and I've seen breakage in other applications. On the other hand, I see no useful new functionality -- for one, scrolling is still line oriented. Andy, if you don't feel like fixing Gnus or investigating why things break, shouldn't you at least provide a way to turn off the new feature?

I _WONDERED_ what was causing that. I see this in isearch all the time, and is very disconcerting. If the window is split, search, then exit out of it, and it reshuffles a bit. -bp

CVS through firewall 25 years, 2 months

Some questions: 1. You said previously that you had patches to allow cvs/pserver to work through a firewall. Are they publicly available and if so, where? Currently, I'm cvs'ing to my basement and then taring and ftping to work. Highly onerous. 2. The gutter stuff is cool, can it be controlled on a per-frame basis? I seem to be experiencing some of the endless redrawing of tabs bugs (Solaris 8 Beta) especially in a VM frame and I'd like to try turning of tabs on those frames (which don't really need them anyway). 3. When tabs are being redrawn something that is hard to put into words is happening. I wonder if you've seen it? The phenomena is that the tabs first get drawn like: +-------------+ | Label 1 | +-------------+ | Label 2 | +-------------+ | Label 3 | +-------------+ Then the region they occupy is blanked and they are redrawn properly. Then the region blanked needs to be refreshed. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that when things get bad, this redrawing is happening on every keystroke.

alpha-linux gcc-2.95.1 segfault 25 years, 2 months

I just tried building xemacs-21.2b19 on alpha-linux with gcc-2.95.1. It segfaults in temacs. Looks like maybe the same problem we saw 1 year or so back. Has anyone else seen this or know how to fix it?

Can't install xemacs 25 years, 2 months

The module stuff is broken at install time if ${prefix} is different from ${exec_prefix}. For example, I see in GNUmakefile: datadir=${prefix}/lib moduledir=${datadir}/${instvardir}/${configuration}/modules which must be wrong, since moduledir is system-dependent, and ${prefix} is system-independent. I repeat: I cannot install xemacs (although, it is true, running in place works fine). This must be fixed immediately. Martin
