If you apply my patch for the new version of i-f-c-i to XEmacs and EFS, it will work with EFS. But anyway: Isn't MD5 supposed to be just working regardless of the coding system the buffer is in? It goes to all kinds of pain to make sure it does something like that. Jan

some comments on the gutter 25 years, 3 months

I've just tested a bit the gutter under a vanilla xemacs (b19+). Although I'll probably not use it (I don't have a toolbar either), here are a few first glance comments: 1/ the gutter tabs doesn't seem to be updated properly when you have several windows. To reproduce, do this: - find two files, say `tata' and `toto'. - C-x 2 (both windows are displaying toto) - C-x b tata (or select toto in the gutter) - C-Tab. The gutter is properly updated - C-Tab again. The gutter is not updated anymore. There are other weird cases like this one. 2/ I was a bit confused at first by the fact that there's only one gutter for all windows, not one per window. It seems to act like the buffers menu whereas I'd expected it to behave like bury-buffer which looks a bit more intuitive since the widgets give the appearance of a stack of sheets of paper. 3/ The presence of the scratch buffer in the gutter seems to be somewhat random ? Recent Texinfo distributions have fairly decent tool called (surprise, surprise) 'texi2html' (it also comes with teTeX 1.0 and/or texlive 4). Rumor has it that recent alpha versions of makeinfo can produce html directly and that output is even better. Jan P.S. I just saw that there is a 'texinfo.org' now. We love you Google!

ATTENTION: default frame name change 25 years, 3 months

I'm committing (at least temporary) a user visible change to 21.2: the default frame name changes from `emacs' to `XEmacs'. This change can potentially break settings based on X windows names (notably in window managers configurations and X resources) because it will affect the frames titles. There is a patch in the queue (by me) which fixes this, but it also needs a change in efs, and thus the wait is on Michael to review it. Jan
