This points out to the changes that need to be done to the event system and the willigness to integrate this in 21.2 (see Architecturing XEmacs). I experimented a bit with the event types (the click stuff) of stallmacs. The work on the Xdnd v3 lib is half-way ready. I'm currently fiddling with some variations, to make it work with XEmacs and TkStep (the nice scriptics guys released Tk 8.1, and everything broke apart :(( ). I hope the next week will produce something viewable. Perhaps I should simply drop the TkStep stuff, cause it's no fun anymore ;) Regards, Oliver.

I agree that these should be consistent. Apart from that I think for 99.99% of our users it really doesn't matter anyway. Jan

.emacs mystery 25 years, 6 months

With a lot of help from the experts on this list, I finally got a working XEmacs 21.2.13 with Mule and graphics. But I still have a few small problems. One of the problems is this: When I start up xemacs in the windowing mode (i.e. w/o -nw), the minibuffer has the following error message: Wrong type argument: console-tty-p #<x-console on "localhost:0" 0: (The Input Method Status area hides the rest of the message.) I tried -debug-init but I didn't get any extra info from this. Running xemacs with -q does not produce this error message. Running xemacs with -q, then pressing "Load .emacs" does not produce this error message either. This is a mystery. What is more mysterious is that "Load .emacs" button re-appear when I use Mew. Any suggestion on how to debug this situation will be appreciated. -kuro

Remember that the original reason Emacs 1.2 became Emacs 12 was because Stallman said he didn't need a third number.

I can't reproduce this on DEC OSF with dtterm, and I am having trouble getting a clean build of 21.2 on Solaris. Which terminal emulator are you using?
