Your description does not make it clear what you consider a bug: including "." and ".." on Unix or not including them on NT when invoked on "/"? The former is not a bug -- that's how `directory-files' has always behaved. Hello All! While investigating infloop breakage in `batch-texinfo-format' on directories I came across the culprit: (directory-files ...) whit a default FILES-ONLY argument of nil includes ".", and even ".." in the returned list. This occurs on system-types `usg-unix-v' (Solaris2.5.1) and `windows-nt' (Workstation 4.0, native build) with the twist that NT does not include ".", and ".." when invoked on "/". This gotta be broken, right? Here's a sample, with output trimmed down (...). (list system-type (mapcar 'directory-files '("/" "/export"))) (usg-unix-v (("." ".." ".Xauthority" ... [bug] Redrawing frame too often when windows split 26 years, 5 months

When I split windows in a frame, I can notice that many operations suddenly require a full redisplay of windows contents. For example, try splitting buffers with C-x 2 and pressing `M-: t RET'. For me, this redraws both buffers. This may not always be easy to spot, but if you look carefully, you should see what I mean. This is repeatable with `-q' and without X resources. However, I am totally unable to repeat this in 20.3. Perhaps this is connected with Kirill's frame/windows changes? The reason why I came to investigate this was that an annoying property of vertical dividers -- try splitting windows with C-x 3, and simply click on a divider (don't drag it). For me, both windows flash for a moment. This is annoying and looks plain ugly; I can stand redisplay slowness when I actually *do* something, but having the redisplay out of nothing... Clearly, this is not a high-priority bug, but it would be nice if someone who knows his way around windows/redisplay code looked at it, because it is a downgrade from 20.3 behaviour. -- Hrvoje Niksic <hniksic(a)srce.hr> | Student at FER Zagreb, Croatia --------------------------------+-------------------------------- I'm a Lisp variable -- bind me!
