You could of course consider it rude of us that we don't set flag in
configure (I would prefer a "Sorry compiler too broken! Abort").
indeed. why don't we do that then?
Alternatively I could fix our signal handler for Solaris Sparc, so
that it looks at the stack and if it finds a Fskip_syntax_* frame
prints a completely different message :-)
Incidentally is there any reason why we do not try to print some kind
of C stacktrace from our signal handler? The Sun Workshop version did
that and sometimes it was really helpful. Obviously this would be
somewhat platform specific but I think at least for Solaris and
linux/glibc it should be easy (didn't Ulrich post something about that
some time ago?). I guesstimate that about 80% of our users use either
Solaris or Linux, so it would definitely be worthwhile.
Note also that a lot of users do not have access to the PROBLEMS
file.
In that case they should complain to their sysadmin in the first
instance.

Treating usenet as read-only medium is rude. Amen
true, but If you use the Help->Submit Bug Report menu the report is
send to xemacs(a)xemacs.org. Maybe some people don't realise that this
is a mailing-list/newsgroup.
