The docstrings for `start-process' and `start-process-internal' refer
to non-existent arguments INCODE and OUTCODE. It looks to me from the
implementation of `start-process' that these are not arguments at all,
but rather are computed from `process-coding-system-alist' and bound
to `coding-system-for-read' and `coding-system-for-write' respectively.
The coding style is opaque; I don't have time this week to figure it
out?
Could somebody with a clue about this code check it?
