There are three options to solve the problem for the user: i) Annoy the XEmacs people to fix the bug ii) Don’t use --with-system-malloc iii) Use --with-pdump ii) and iii) are both perfectly reasonable. i) is worth doing, but we are unlikely to get to it soon. (And it might even be a FreeBSD bug, where we would have no control over when a fix goes in.)
