I believe it's referring to the `resource' image instantiator
format[1], which is too-generic a name for something pretty much
windows-specific, so it should be renamed to `mswindows-resource' or
something like that. `cursor-font' should likewise be renamed to
`x-cursor-font', but the advantage for resource->mswindows-resource
renaming is that we haven't yet released an XEmacs with the `resource'
instantiator format.
Ben's idea is to unite these two formats into a more palatable
window-system-independent pointer shape interface, so that you can
specify the pointer as:
[pointer-shape :type i-beam]
without worrying whether the current window system supports i-beam by
default, or whether it calls it i-beam. The internal code would take
care of doing The Right Thing across window systems.
