The focus *is* on the compilation window, hence why the tabs change. Its not
clear how or what Doing The Right Thing is. Trying to make the tabs display
something that is not the focus would break their whole function.

Subject: Buffer tabs get out of sync on compilation
This bug report will be sent to the XEmacs Development Team,
not to your local site managers!!
Please write in English, because the XEmacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.
Please describe as succinctly as possible:
 	- What happened.
 	- What you thought should have happened.
 	- Precisely what you were doing at the time.
Please also include any C or lisp back-traces that you may have.

 Dear Bug Team!
when I save my changes in some source code buffer and want to compile
the changed file, I run the 'compile' command (which I have set up on
single-key shortcut, without interaction [1]). It works fine - the
frame is split into 2 windows, the bottom one shows the make output
while the source stays visible in the top window (which also keeps the
cursor) - *except* the line of tabs on the top of the frame (very nice
 - makes XEmacs look a bit like JBuilder :-) ) changes from the list of
source file names to a single *compilation* tab (or *compilation* and
*grep* tabs, when I also have the *grep* buffer). It's as if the focus
changed to the *compilation* buffer - which it probably did,
temporarily, but the change is clearly supposed to be invisible, and
IMHO it should be invisible: the state of the tab bar should reflect
 the selected window, right?
     Bye
 	Vasek
P.S.: If I wanted to debug this further, how would I go about it? For
example, how can I find out which functions implement that tab bar?

 [1] from my init file:
 (global-set-key 'f7 'compile)
 (setq compile-command "make")
 (setq compilation-read-command nil)
