Just configure.in. Patches to configure are huge and unnecessary, and
typically fail to cleanly apply because of the explicit line number
information. Committer should regenerate.
If you notice that a patch to configure.in is _not_ reflected in
configure, please report it to xemacs-beta as a bug; any committer can
fix it trivially. Usually a build will auto-autoconf, though, so CVS
normally catches it on the next CVS operation.

have been looking arround configure.in for 21.4 and 21.5
i ran configure with no extra args in both to see what widgets are set by default
athena was set as the widget set in 21.5
but in 21.4 widgets are not set at all
do we just want to bring 21.4 inline with 21.5 for this ??
the change is pretty simple (i think)
there is 2 lines in configure.in that would be removed

There was a problem where the athena widgets get detected by default
under Cygwin, screwing things up royally for most people who normally
just want MS.
We need this stuff to work on Cygwin, and eventually MacOS/X. I'm
pretty sure that MacOS/X will eventually get a port to their native
widgets, which AFAIK are not X11-based. But on those platforms X
servers may be available, so it's confusing.

and can test configure for you. Just tell me which version of Xemacs
you want me to build. (I can also check out CVS.)
I don't *normally* build & install new versions of Xemacs, because the
one I'm using works fine. But if there is a specific question to be
answered, I'll make the effort. It just needs to be brought to my
attention.

currently, too. (I had never tried to build 21.4 until now.)
Someone definitely needs to fix this before either will build/install
cleanly on Cygwin.

(This is the 2001-10-08 snapshot of Cygwin, a pre-release of 1.3.4,
which should be very close now.) There is no X anywhere on this machine.
This is xemacs-21.4 from cvs updated about 2 hours ago.
"configure --prefix=/usr/local/xemacs-21.4" produces the output below.
