I suspected initially that this might be a symptom of the CCL coding systems getting much more intensive usage with the 8-bit-fixed coding systems replacing the ISO 2022 coding systems for most European encodings. But as far as I can tell, nothing involved in that backtrace uses the 8-bit-fixed coding systems.
