  Thanks for the help.
  Usually, I just log out and log in if I need to restart
  the system. The login process will start Solaris Common Desktop
  Environment. I don't specific run X-server myself.
  So I guess I can just logout and login to see if the problem
  will go away.

 Try restarting the X server.  Several people have reported weird
 X-related problems on Sun over the past year, and simply restarting
 the server has often helped.  Don't ask me why, it's just magic.

 You will probably get no specific help with this; there are no
 developers left with any memory of that release.  I believe Sun is
 distributing a CD-ROM with a more recent (21.4.x) version of XEmacs on

 Modern systems often disable core files by default; typically the
 "ulimit" command may be used to enable them.
