In XEmacs 21.2 (beta46) "Urania" [Lucid] (powerpc-apple-darwin1.3) of Tue Apr
3 2001 on gryffindor
configured using `configure --pdump'
Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:
Pressing the apostrophe key leads to a crash. That seems to
independent from the buffer mode, it happens in gnus and in all other
buffers. I can reproduce this behaviour at any time I want (which is
not very often ;-).

I loaded the core file with gdb (like XEmacs said) but "where" simply

you could try reproducing this crash with xemacs running under the
control of gdb, e.g.
$ gdb xemacs
(gdb) run -vanilla
[ reproduce crash ]
(gdb) where
that should give a backtrace.

XEmacs beta automatically generated from my old .emacs) because it
crashes with "run" and works fine when I use "run -vanilla" to start
XEmacs. I attached my .xemacs/init.el that works fine with the
current stable XEmacs I use at work (with FreeBSD). I installed the
beta because it seems to be the only version working with MacOS X.

Looks like I missed the x-compose.el patch. That wouldn't help Eric,
I hadn't done anything about it at the time of "Urania."
It does demand a release. If you're not using MSVC in debug mode, or
(evidently) MacOS 10, this bug probably won't bite you, though.

Oh, BTW, if you are using CVS or patching up, keep the original around
because the patch I intend to apply will be more complicated, and
you'll either get a failed patch or a file which is not in synch with
the repository.

It works fine now! Pressing ' now results in ' and does not crash
XEmacs any more.

I'm using version 21.2.46 and Greg Parker's patch to make XEmacs recognize
a Darwin environment which I found at
