No, my patch has nothing to do with that, except that instead of
crashing x-symbol can grab the charsets.

Here comes the result for 21.5 and 21.4.
Well, there are indeed 7 more charsets being used in 21.5 (49) than in
21.4 (42), but I don't see any charsets used by Gnus or x-symbol in
either one. Did you run the programs that caused problems before
listing the charsets?
