I checked with the configuration option --with-toolbars=no.
It compiles, it runs even with my init file but it gives me an error
which I attach.
I guess compiling without toolbars is not a solution. It was just
avoiding a
situation which provoked a bug. The actual bug wasn't in the
the GTK code.
It appears that toolbarx code is also triggering problems. I don't use
auctex, so I had not seen any problems. Another thing to add to the list.
