As reported elsewhere, we seem to be OK.  Thanks for your efforts, and
updating us!
After I have reports from other users of successes, I'll update the
XEmacs pages to indicate full recovery.  (Or Adrian or somebody may do
that.)

 We upgraded the sshd during the recovery from the crash, and
 unfortunately forgot to permit environment processing
 (PermitUserEnvironment), which is needed for your CVS-setup - Sorry.
 
 That's why it barfed about the "Bad options" - the authorized_keys2 file
 is fine.

 I've changed the sshd configuration and reloaded sshd, so please try
