The integration issue isn't really about the GPL but about subtle
problems that occur for the end user when he combines packages
computed independently of each other.
So while distributed packaging has its prose it also has its cons.
Uh, this part of the thread actually was not about weighing technical
advantages and disadvantages, but rather about legal consequences of
the GPL.
The support for ensuring quality between independently created
packages is weak now in XEmacs.
I'll follow up on the source code issue in another part of this
thread.
Then I better look there.
