The problem is that there's no way to tell gnus *not* to erase
/var/spool/mail/you when it retrieves mails. I don't know about vm. So the
thing would be tricky:
I think you'd be oblidged to always use Gnus to retrieve *all* mails,
and tell it to store xemacs-beta mails in a special place, and the rest in a
standard unix folder (using the nnfolder backend I believe). Then, you would
tell vm to read mails from this particular folder fed by gnus. Wao.
