It's not about "mixing" XPM and GTK. You're likely misunderstanding
the word cursor here: XPM cursor probably refers to mouse pointers as
XPM images. (Originally they had to be XBM and older servers still
only support that.)
FWIW, I can confirm the thing with the scrollbars. I forgot to
mention it in my mail.
