What bad consequences would giving it up have? I'm not sure I
understand what problems users really would encounter.
AFAICT, none, since source packages are completely unsupported at the
moment. Additionally, I think source packages would deserve a "project"
of their own, instead of keeping them all the time and doing bits and
pieces here and there.
So, I'm fine with requiring gnus in w3, if it fixes the problem. Moving
url-cid.el to gnus would be a bit worse, but acceptable. Just tell me
how you'd like this handled, and I'll take care of it.
