Oscar was right. It's not ldap. In a private letter, he suggested
turning off dialog boxes via (setq use-dialog-box nil). When I do
this, xemacs doesn't crash. So it must be some motif bug that shows
up Solaris 2.7, because I didn't have this problem on 2.5.1.
I'll try to track this down a bit more, but X programming is Greek to
me.
