We don't support Xft1 so this is no problem.
It is slightly slower on X servers which don't support the

extension but not so slow that I really notice.
I find it to be perceptibly slower over even a 100MB network; YMMV. I
agree this is not a reason to avoid it at this stage, as Xft is
unbearably slow over the net.
