Bug Report: Crash attempting to access customize menu

This bug report will be sent to the XEmacs Development Team, not to your local site managers!! Please write in English, because the XEmacs maintainers do not have translators to read other languages for them. In XEmacs 21.4 (beta0) "Solid Vapor" [Lucid] (i586-pc-win32) of Wed Apr 18 2001 on BRAIN configured using `configure UNKNOWN' Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: Any attempt to get to one of the option screens, e.g. Options->Advanced (Customize)->Emacs... and kaboom! A crash accompanied by the following screen: Fatal error. Your files have been auto-saved. Use `M-x recover-session' to recover them. If you have access to the PROBLEMS file that came with your version of XEmacs, please check to see if your crash is described there, as there may be a workaround available. Otherwise, please report this bug by running the send-pr script included with XEmacs, or selecting `Send Bug Report' from the help menu. As a last resort send ordinary email to `crashes(a)xemacs.org&#39;. *MAKE SURE* to include the information in the command M-x describe-installation. The exact contents vary, depending on whatever I have been doing, this is the screen if I access it right after xemacs startup. This has been going on for some time, in previous 21.2.x and 21.1.x versions, but I hoped moving to 21.4 would help. Any help you provide will be greatly appreciated, and any help I provide will be gladly given. My build environment is MSVC 6.0 SP4. I do not do anything clever with the make process, just plain nmake -f xemacs.mak install using the delivered xemacs.mak. The error occurs with and without .emacs being loaded.
