So what you have is
/$prefix/bin/xemacs-beta -> $srdir-beta/src/xemacs
and invoking /$prefix/bin/xemacs-beta should replicate the "temacs
only runs in batch" error?
Correct. It does not matter if it is a hard or soft link. I am running
RH 7.3 if that matters.
A local link in the $srdir-beta/src directory does work.
