How are we going to deal with XEmacs 21.0 compatibility?
If I understand the problem, it would be solved by having separate
package tarballs that use the old file extension.
21.2 can search for .elx then .elc then .el. Make the search
list configurable so you can turn off .elx or .elc loading if
desired. We'll likely need to extend searching like this anyway
to integrate searching for .o, files assuming the DLL support
goes anywhere.
I think it is a good idea for XEmacs and Emacs installations to
not intefere with each other. Since we're the spinoff, it seems
reasonable and fair for us to be the ones to do the changing.
