Not really. That's why I apologized without suggesting when this
might happen.
There's one Russian guy, Ivan Pascal <pascal(a)info.tsu.ru>, who does
most of the XKB work in XFree86, you could look him up. He has a page
on this stuff somewhere ...

seems to be there. But it's really for people configuring servers
(ie, your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file).
He has admitted that he's not paying attention to backward
compatibility issues because they take up too much time. It
frustrates the hell out of me, but I can see his point: they really
only affect a few rare apps other than (say) XIM input methods, and
for stuff like XIM, XKB looks like a godsend to me.
