I don't mean to sound racist (obviously), but doesn't this sound like a
stretch? Not the part about "watermelon" (I haven't the foggiest idea
what this means), but "fetch" is a pretty common term in
computer-speak....

It is a reference to the racial stereotype that all Black people love
watermelon. The word "fetch" indirectly alludes to a Black comedy
character in the 1930s called "Steppin Fetchit", who was lazy
and stupid
for comic effect.
