With my custom.el and init.el XEmacs crashes windows and displays very shortly a blue screen. It looks like it is happening during garbage collection. Although hard on XP, some further investigation showed me that the crash is a memory protection fault in GP4??.dll which is the display driver for a matrox 450 dual head display card. Could the dual display stuff have something to do with it? It's a bit frustrating testing this because the machine boots everytime (of course ;-( ) after the crash and it's my day to day machine.

I have experimented with the advanced settings and found the following the most stable (as in not a crash for one day now): - set the hardware acceleration one notch down from maximum (to the one which says:" Disable cursor and bitmap accelerations......) If I do this all modes are working. The setting "Enable write combining" has also some influence, but I'm not sure what exactly. It's on now.
